Leslie has worked in special education for the past 28 years, concentrating on her passion with those on the autism spectrum. She has been the autism specialist for Hamilton Southeastern Schools for the past 7 years, staring in the district in 2005, and before that, was able to teach most of her years as a preschool teacher in classrooms where children had complex communication needs and were also on the autism spectrum. Leslie loves being a part of the Central Indiana autism leader RoundTable with IRCA as well. Leslie completed her undergrad work at IU Bloomington and has done some grad work with Ball State. Leslie is a TRUE IU and Bloomington girl! Her interests include helping students recognize the importance and meaning in communication and how important that continues to be through development! Leslie has completed a course through MeaningfulSpeech.com and continues to learn something new daily about GLPs!
Leslie's true passion is CONNECTION with students who want and yearn to communicate and making that happen!
